6 Summer Style Essentials for 2015 #PieStyle

white.chucksSummer is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to put your Uggs and sweaters away, and prepare to break out that brighter and lighter wardrobe.  You may already have some staples set aside from last year, but it’s also important to stay up-to-date on the current trends, and of course, incorporate the classics too.  We’ve done a little research, and we’ve put together a list of 6 summer style essentials that you’re gonna need to stay fresh and cool this season:

1. White Chuck Taylors.
These fall under the ‘classics’.  Whether you’re wearing jeans, shorts, or even a dress, all-white chucks are an effortless way to complete any outfit, without jeopardizing your comfort.  When in doubt, pull your chucks out!

2. Crop Tops

Remember how your mom used to complain about your midriff showing?  (That means your belly).  Well… they’re back, and they’ve never looked so good!  Crop tops are making a super resurge, in all shapes and sizes.  Whether you only show-off a sliver of skin, or you bare all with a lacey bra-let, you need one in your summer roster.

3. Cross-Body Bags

If you don’t own one already, it’s time to invest.  From strolling the boardwalk, to sipping caesars on a patio, these practical purses fit all your essentials (wallet, phone, keys, lip gloss), while giving you hands-free access to carry your cocktail, or ice cream cone.  Don’t weigh yourself down with a huge bag… summer-time is all about being care-free.
4. Jumpers

Jumpers, onesies, playsuits, rompers… call em’ what you will, they’re still in!  So if you stalked up last season, you’re in luck.  These instant outfits are a piece of cake (or pie).  Pair with some cute sandals for a day-time look, and change into some strappy heels for an evening soirée.  Check out the selection at our go-to Toronto boutique, Poor Little Rich Girl.

5. Kimonos

New on the scene this summer is the Kimono.  Inspired by the traditional Japanese garb, these printed cover-ups are light and breezy, yet cover-up all the right areas.  Throw one over your crop-top and ripped jeans, or use it as a cover-up for a pool party.  If eastern elegance and summer boho had a baby, it’s name would be Kimono.

6. Floral Prints
Speaking of prints… floral is in.  From maxi dresses, to blouses, to yoga leggings, you’re going to want a touch of flower power in your wardrobe this summer.  Worried about being too bold?  Well you’re in luck, because watercolours and pastels are also in.  Kill two birds with one stone by flaunting a floral kimono.
