With Mother’s Day not long past, Father’s Day is soon approaching. What does this day mean to you? People everywhere are racking their brains to think of the perfect gift for dad. Maybe it’s the new tool he’s been eyeing, or the latest electronic gadget or that new golf club he’s needing for the new season. Too often we get caught up in the gift giving and the barbecues and forget what it is we are supposed to be celebrating.
Time spent with your loved ones is a more valuable gift than any item money could buy, and so under-rated. It is the relationship that we have with our fathers that need remembering and celebrating. Most dads would prefer a quality afternoon spent with his family than a gift delivered with a hurried visit. We need to appreciate our dads while they are still with us. And for those of us who have lost our dads – this day should not be spent mourning the loss we suffered, but rather celebrating the gift we had of a father who is still sorely missed.
